What we survey in Mandurah

Mandurah is part of our regular coverage area, from canal homes and the marina to trailer boats on the hard. Every survey gets the same approach we use on commercial vessels.

  • Pre-purchase surveys — an independent boat inspection before you commit to buy, covering hull, machinery, electrical and safety equipment. See what’s included and pricing.
  • Insurance surveys — condition surveys and valuations for new cover, renewals or an underwriter’s requirement. More on insurance surveys.
  • Commercial vessel surveys — AMSA domestic commercial vessel surveys for charter, tour and work boats operating out of Mandurah. More on commercial surveys.
  • Afloat inspections on canal moorings — where a haul-out isn’t practical, we inspect afloat and note in the report anything that couldn’t be assessed as a result.
Recent Mandurah job

Insurance and condition survey on SY Catcha, on her canal mooring.

An in-water insurance and condition survey on SY Catcha, an 11m Robin Chamberlain–designed FRP sailing catamaran moored in Mandurah’s canals. Catcha is an ocean-going cat with a diesel and electric auxiliary setup, which means more systems to look at, not fewer.

The survey covered:

  • Hull, deck and structural condition of both hulls and the bridgedeck, with moisture readings through the FRP laminate
  • Propulsion and power systems, including the diesel/electric auxiliary arrangement, batteries and charging
  • Standing and running rigging, chainplates and deck fittings
  • Gas system, electrical installation and bilge arrangements checked for safety and compliance
  • Safety equipment checked against the requirements for her ocean-going operating area
  • A separate indicative market valuation to support an accurate agreed value

Why the valuation matters: if the agreed value on the policy doesn’t reflect what the boat is actually worth, the owner can end up underinsured when a claim comes in.

Mandurah survey FAQs

Common questions

Do you cover Mandurah?

Yes. Mandurah and the Peel region are part of our regular coverage from Perth. Let us know where the vessel is when you book and we’ll confirm a time.

Can you survey a boat on its canal mooring?

Yes. We can inspect afloat on a canal or marina mooring. For a pre-purchase survey we’d recommend an out-of-water inspection where the sale allows it, because it gives the most complete picture below the waterline.

How much does a pre-purchase survey cost?

Pre-purchase survey pricing is set by vessel length, starting from $450 + GST for boats up to 19 ft with one engine. The full table is on the Recreational Surveys page, and we’ll confirm the quote before booking.

How quickly do I get the report?

The electronic report is delivered within 24 hours of the survey, so a buyer isn’t left waiting to make a decision.
